  • Mika Hakkinen’s DTM Mercedes-Benz

Mika’s car was on show in the UK. A current C-Class Coupe DTM car and a show F1 car was ready for Nico, TGF and Moss.

  • Sixty Years of the SL

The Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart currently has a 60 years of the SL exhibition. Here are some of the cars on display.

After trying alloys to lighten the SL further Mercedes also tried fibreglass. Here is a unique fibreglass example, its paint work isn’t up to usual Mercedes standards!

A replica of the winning 1964 Spa-Sofia-Liege. The original, thought lost, has recently turned up.

What about a fly-by-wire SL. No steering wheel, just use the joysticks! Current road legislation means that there must be a direct link between driver’s control and wheels.

This was not in the museum. Not yet anyway, as it is the latest SL launched in the UK in a few weeks. This is the SL500 and is limited to 155mph.
